The May Gifted Gorgeousness SAL

Well, I'm three days late, but I've shown up at last! It's time for the May Gifted Gorgeousness SAL check-in! This is the brain-child of Jo from Serendipitous Stitching. We stitch on something that's been gifted to us through exchanges or giveaways, whether a pattern, kit, fabric, floss, whatever, and post on the 15th of the month.

A few months ago I was stitching up SamSarah's 3D Fresh Apple to add to my fruit bowl. You can see my last progress post here. I had to put it aside for awhile because I ran out of the GAST Oatmeal floss, but it arrived a couple of weeks ago (hurray!) and so I picked the Apple up again and finished it off!

You can tell where I had stopped and started again, because there's a very slight change of hue. It's the risk you run with variegated floss, I guess, especially when you don't buy the skeins at the same time from the same dye lot. Oh well!

Next comes the exciting part! I say exciting - the last couple of times it was absolutely nerve-wracking. Just the process of sewing the whole 3D piece together is very stressful. At least it is for me! I'm sure there are plenty of people who find this sort of thing easy-peasy. Stay tuned! Hopefully I'll be able to finish it by next month's GG check-in.

Happy xxx's,

I think the slight variation only adds to its beauty, my dear. Good luck with the 3D part.

Sarah, I love the variation that the new thread provided. It actually looks more realistic like a real apple. I'm anxious to see how you finish it. Glad your thread arrived so you could finish the stitch up. It looks really cute. RJ from stitching friends forever 2

Sarah, I dislike finishing and a 3 dimensional finish would send me into a panic and I'd send it out, I like the variation in thread color too,k looking forward to seeing your fruit bowl. Mary

Oohhh gorgeous, Sarah. Good luck with the finishing. I once received a 3-D watermelon as part of an exchange. It is absolutely adorable!

Thanks for taking part in GG this month. I honestly can't see the colour change other than the usual variegatedness of the thread.

A lovely finish Sarah. I can't see the variation between the two dye lots.

That's a very nice finish, Sarah. I have seen big colour differences particularly in the Oatmeal dye lots. But yours isn't very visible.

Surely an apple is very variegated so your subtle change in thread colour will look perfect.
