Faith Sheep Update 8 and a New Start

Hi folks! Thank you all so much for your sweet messages and comments on my last post. We're so excited! We haven't found out yet if it's going to be a boy or a girl, but neither of us has a preference. It's our first baby, and it's going to be the first grandbaby for our parents too. Conclusion: it's going to be spoiled beyond belief!

Some stitching news: I've got a new start. This is Liberty Belles by Little House Needleworks, gifted to me by Shirlee during our last exchange (so technically this would fit in with the Gifted Gorgeousness SAL - I'll have to remember that). Here's my start:

Not too shabby for a beginning. I've stitched up the Belle in the middle and the two stars on either side of her, and I'm working my way up the vine. I'm stitching this with all DMC floss, two over one on 18 count Cork linen, which is driving me absolutely crazy - the floss keeps folding under the fabric weaves. Other than that, I'm enjoying it. It's such a nice, happy, summery pattern!

I've also made some progress on the Little Sheep Virtues SAL:

This is Faith at 1600 stitches. I've done some serious stitching on the border and I'm nearly done. One more week should do it!

All right, that's it! I've got a few chores to do around the house. My guests are slowly leaving: first my father-in-law a couple of weeks ago, and then my two sisters-in-law last week. Now it's just my MIL left, so it's gotten much easier to manage. Ramadan has been pretty draining on everything, so I'm no longer the only one taking naps! (Pregnancy is exhausting).

Happy xxx's,

Faith Sheep Update 7, Finished Knitting, and an Announcement!

Hi everyone! Lots to report here. First, I've finished knitting my scarf!

I've already blocked it, so it's nice and relaxed and ready for winter. This is about 60 inches long and 9 inches wide. I used two balls of Sirdar Crofter Fair Isle Effect, cast on 50 stitches on 4mm knitting needles, working it in stockinette stitch. I'm absolutely crazy about the colors, and I am so tempted to get more in different colorways. We'll see how my wallet feels about that...

I've also got an update on my Little Sheep Virtues SAL:

This is Faith at 1400 stitches. Still steadily working on the border. The colors on this one are not my favorite, but I'm hoping it all ties in together when I'm done.

Things are still crazy hectic here. My father-in-law had to leave to Japan to get back to work, but everyone else (MIL and two SILs) are still here. To make things more interesting, Ramadan started on Thursday, which means everyone is fasting (Ramadan is to us what Lent is to Christians, expect we don't eat ANYTHING from sunup to sundown every day for a month). However, I'm not fasting this year, because...

(drumroll please)

Some serious, hardcore happy dancing going on here. I'm already in my 13th week, but I was waiting to hit the first-trimester mark before I told anyone. My due date is mid-December, so I have a lot to think about and plan. I'm so happy we managed to move to a bigger place - just in time!

Extra-special blessings,

Faith Sheep Update 6 and the June Gifted Gorgeousness SAL

Whew! It's been a busy few days, it really has. I've had house guests (my parents-in-law and two sisters-in-law) since Thursday, and we've been running around every day. By a strange coincidence, my work is closed this week for renovations, so I've been able to dedicate all my time to the in-laws.

It's June 15th! (Wow, how is it June already?!) So it's time for the Gifted Gorgeousness SAL June edition! This is Jo from Serendipitous Stitching's baby - we stitch on something that's been gifted to us through exchanges or giveaways, whether a pattern, kit, fabric, floss, whatever, and post on the 15th of the month (because it's 2015).

For the last few months I've been working on Prairie Schooler's Two By Two, gifted to me last year in an exchange with Emma from Emma's Bloglet (you can see my last update here). This is what it looks like now:

I'm at 1600 stitches now - doesn't look like much, does it? I'm so close to finishing the roof of the ark, and I can't wait to move onto a color that is not beige or brown.

I am a day late for my Little Sheep Virtues SAL Sunday check-in, though. I barely had time today to take these pictures while there was still light, and I had to wait all day (it's 9:10 already) to post this. Oh well. Here it is!

This is Faith at 1200 stitches now. I've gotten some serious progress done on the border. It's only two colors, so it's pretty quick stitching.

That's all from me today! I'll be going around seeing what you stitched on for June's Gifted Gorgeousness...

Lots of love,

Faith Sheep Update 5, and Some More Knitting!

Well, things are really coming together over here in the sandbox. We don't have any sofas yet (won't be delivered for another week) but everything else is in place. I'm MOST excited about the dining table - we were eating off the coffee table in our old apartment, that's how small it was.

I'm kind of racing to get the minimum ready, because my entire in-law family is going to be staying with us starting this Thursday. I guess that's what happens when you suddenly move into a bigger place...

Moving on to what you came here for. Some stitching has happened! Here's my update for the Little Sheep Vitures SAL:

Lija is taking a little break from this to focus on her upcoming exams, but I'm forging ahead. This is Faith at 1000 stitches now. I've gotten quite a bit done: the flowerpot and vines on the roof, the stars, the moon, and the word "Faith." I've also gotten a teeny tiny start on the border on the right.

My pretty little scarf has gotten some love this week too:

I've just barely started the second ball of yarn, and it's already 30 inches long. I originally cast on 50 stitches, so it's 9 inches wide. I'm enjoying this so much. I can just sit and mindlessly knit and purl in front of the TV.

Big hugs,

Faith Sheep Update 4, and Some Knitting!

*Pause for some serious happy dancing*

Yep! After a very long year of searching for the right place, packing, paperwork, financial squeezing... We've finally done it! I'm so happy, you guys. This place is so much bigger (we've gone from a one-bedroom apartment, to a three-bedroom), and I no longer feel like I'm being suffocated by our belongings. Things are still a complete mess (we only moved on Friday) and we still don't have sofas, but it's really coming along.

All right, enough gushing. I missed my check-in yesterday for the Little Sheep Virtues SAL, but better late than never! Here it is:

This is Faith at 800 stitches. I've finished the little house and started on the random flower pot on the roof.

I've also been knitting! While I was packing up my stash, I came across this yarn I'd bought nearly a year ago. One thing led to another, and I started a little scarf for myself:

The yarn is Sirdar Crofter Fair Isle Effect, and it's absolutely gorgeous. I'm loving it. I'm knitting this on 4mm needles, using a basic stockinette stitch. I'm not even done with the first ball of yarn, so it's going to be quite longer than this, and it's going to need some serious blocking when I'm done.

All right, that's all for now! I've got some bags to unpack and some laundry to do.

Happy xxx's!
