Can I Get a "Hoot Hoot"?

And the first half of Hoot is done! Woohoo! *insert happy dance*

I stitched in the rest of the grass, finished the green border, stitched in the last four pumpkins, the two trees, and the two owls. Done! That is, of course, except for the beading, which I'm going to leave to the end. Beading is not my favorite thing in the world.

I'm going to have to put Hoot aside for now. I'm taking off to visit my family in Kuwait for a week. My baby sister (I've got three younger sisters, and between the youngest and I there's a ten-year difference) graduated high school a month ago and she's off to my mother's home state, North Carolina, to go to college. She's got Type 1 diabetes, though (that's the kind you're born with and can never cure) so my mom's going to be moving with her to make sure she stays healthy. Anyway, long story short, I'm off to visit them before they move!

While I'm there I'm going to be working on my Tutti Frutti exchange piece. Lots of ideas on Pinterest, and I think I've decided on which one I'm making my partner. So I'll see you all next week!

Happy xxx's!

Almost Hooting There!

Hey, folks! How've you guys been? Everything's pretty quiet here. The World Cup final is a couple of days away and I cannot WAIT for it to be over! It really feels like it's been going on forever. I look forward to going through an entire day without anyone saying a word about a goal, a player, a dive, an injury, a penalty, a foul... My husband is a huge sports fan, so the year is a revolving door of basketball, soccer, and American football. God help me.

Anyway, onto some stitching. More progress on Hoot!

I've stitched in the blue, yellow, and purple on the two remaining houses, the two yellow moons, and finished the orange border. At this rate, I should be done with this front half of the biscornu this week! And then maybe I'll actually remember to iron the thing...

I have been reminded by a couple of people's blogs that I need to be working on Mii Stitch's Tutti Frutti exchange. I'll be scouring Pinterest for ideas!

Lots of love,

Hooting Again

So, after a short break to deal with the traveling pattern, I'm back again with progress on Hoot.

I've started the second half of this front side of the biscornu (so, really, I've only finished a quarter of the whole thing!) I worked on the outer border of black and white checks, did the black of the houses and the white eyes of the owls.

Things are going well here. I've settled into a nice rhythm of staying up until dawn so I can eat and stay hydrated at my leisure, and then sleep until noon the next day. It's been very quiet and relaxing, and I've managed to do a lot of reading in the last week and a half - I think I'm on book four at the moment.

Big hugs,

"Land of Liberty" is Ready to Go!

Hi folks! I know I'm a day late to be announcing the winner of the 4th of July traveling pattern - sorry about that! Yesterday was so hectic. Today is day 7 of Ramadan, and the hunger isn't really my biggest concern. Thirst is. It gets to 44 degrees C here (that's 111 degrees F) with 32% humidity. Translation: when you step outside you stop breathing and start dripping. Oh well, one week down, three weeks to go!

All right, the reason we're all here now: the winner of the traveling pattern!

Just to remind everyone, this traveling pattern goes with some rules. When you pass it along, please include items in your package that spell out FLAG. So with the pattern I've included Fabric, Little buttons, an Americana mini quilt, and a Gift from Dubai.

So who's the winner?

Drumroll please...

Penny from Larkspur Lane!

Penny, please let me know what your snail mail address is, and I'll have this package in the mail for you! :D

For now, have a tall glass of iced tea for me!

Hooting Away

It's day 4 of Ramadan here, and I think my body is finally getting used to not eating for 15+ hours. I'm not as groggy and achy as I was the first two days, and I actually have the energy to clean and cook and live life semi-normally. I'm so glad I took this month off work, though. I cannot imagine having the patience to teach right now.

Anyway, I have been making progress on Hoot. Really loving this project. I thought it was going to be a quick stitch, but there are so many little details on it, so many color changes, that it's taking me a while to stitch it up. That's okay, though - anything to distract me from food!

So I've now stitched half of this front side. I added the grass, the trees, the pumpkins, and the owls. I keep forgetting to mention, I'm stitching this with three strands over two, just for that extra coverage. I tend to do this with biscornus.

Only a few days left for the 4th July traveling pattern! You can sign up here.

Have some pie for me, please!
