Hope Sheep Update 13

Happy belated Thanksgiving! Hope you all had a lovely day, surrounded by family and food. We hadn't planned on doing anything - Thanksgiving isn't a holiday for us, of course, and we all had work and were exhausted by the time we got home. But, somehow, my sisters-in-law found their way to us and we had a very lovely meal together........of sushi. There was no way I was cooking a turkey after the day I'd had.

Anyway, it's SAL update time again! This is the Sheep Virtues SAL I'm doing with Lija, Kaye, and Anne. If you've got these cuties hiding in your stash somewhere and you've been needing a nice kick in the behind to get you started, join in!

So this is what my Hope looks like after 1300 stitches. Yep, you read that right. 1300. And I'm still not done!

I'm stitching up the little sheep with Wisper thread. I love the effect so far, but once it's done I'm going to need to find a way to fluff it up a little. One more week, and I should be done with Hope and can move on to my next sheep.

Big hugs,

A New Fables and Tales Start

I've started on yet another chart from Prairie Schooler's Fables & Tales! I'm on a roll with these little cuties! Last week I finished up The Tortoise and the Hare, and a few weeks ago I put the last stitch in The Three Bears. Today I've got a new start to show you, on Three Blind Mice:

At this point I've only stitched one little blind mouse, his little bit of cheese and sunglasses, all the way to his cute little whiskers. Isn't he adorable?

Things are starting to build up around here. We're still apartment hunting, my car's registration is up for renewal (why is it such a long process?!), and we're tentatively trying to plan a vacation at the end of the year.

If that isn't enough to drive me to distraction, our birthdays are next week! My husband was born on the 1st of Dec, and I was born on the 2nd, so we're literally 24 hours apart. I love it - exchanging gifts makes it feel like Christmas! It does seem to have snuck up on me this year, though. I need to do a little running around tomorrow after work getting his presents ready.

Happy xxx's!

Hope Sheep Update 12

It's Sunday, so it's time to post another update for the Sheep Virtues SAL! I'm doing this with Lija, Anne, and Kaye, but anyone can feel to join in. I'm still working on my first sheep:

I'm doing 100 stitches a week, and this is what Hope looks like after 1200 stitches. I finally finished stitching the border and started on the sheep! I found a really great deal on eBay a few months ago on a bunch of Wisper threads, so I thought I'd try it out. So far so good! I'm really enjoying the fluffy effect.

Speaking of Lija, she had a giveaway on her blog a little while ago. She was giving the winner a chart of their choice from Love Thy Thread, and I won! Thank you so much, Lija. I love the chart :D

Lots of love,

The Tortoise and the Hare is Done, Plus Some Framing News!

Woohoo! I've finished the second Fables & Tales! Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you The Tortoise and the Hare:

I finally finished stitching the banner above and all the flowers underneath it. This was such a lovely, easy piece to stitch - I'm really enjoying this whole series. Now I just have to figure out which one I'm going to stitch next!

More happy news: I had two pieces framed!

I finished stitching Down by the Bay last December, and Falling Star this past May. I put them both aside and basically forgot all about them until I did a bit of stash organization last month. Off to the framer's they went, and I got them back yesterday.

I'm so happy with them! Very glad I picked the colors I did. I wanted them to look similar but not identical, so the frames are the same width but not the same color. We have no empty wall space left in our apartment, but it doesn't matter because I really really really REALLY hope we'll be moving soon and then I'll have all the wall space I could possibly ask for!

Big hugs,

Hope Sheep Update 11

SAL update time again! This is the Sheep Virtues SAL I'm doing with Lija, Kaye, and Anne.

I super quickly took these pictures this morning before I ran off to work. I wanted there to still be light and I knew I was going to be coming home late. I didn't anticipate there being a major accident and my getting stuck in a traffic jam, so I ended up five minutes late for my first class. Eek!

So here are the pictures that started it all today:

This is what Hope looks like after 1100 stitches (what?! how can there be this many stitches? how am I still not done with the border?!)

The weather's beautiful right now. This weekend was the second in a row that we were invited to a BBQ. It still hasn't rained yet, and I'm praying for that first rain of the season. Yep, it's November and it still hasn't rained. Welcome to Dubai!

Happy xxx's,

Trotting Along

The birds are chirping, the weather is so nice and crisp it's got me thinking about sweaters again, and I don't have any classes scheduled! Today is a very good day indeed.

Stitching has been slow going. I'm preparing for an exchange, so I've been doing a lot of secret stitching, nothing I can show yet. But here's my progress on The Tortoise and the Hare:

I've started the banner along the top and have stitched about half the blue flowers above the rabbit. Another week should do it, and then I'll be done with this little guy!

Hope you're all having a lovely day!

Hope Sheep Update 10

The cold still has me in its grip, despite my best efforts. I don't have that feverish, dizzy feeling anymore, which is great, but the coughing and sneezing haven't stopped. Oh well - at least the weather is finally getting better! There's a lovely breeze, and the temperatures are in the twenties now (C, that is, which is like the 80s F). We were actually able to hang out in a park this weekend, at a BBQ some of my husband's colleagues invited us to.

Anyway, on to some stitching. I've been forging ahead with the Sheep Virtues SAL I'm doing with Lija, Anne, and Kaye.

We're trying to do 100 stitches a week, and as it's week 10, this is what Hope looks like after 1000 stitches.

The border is taking absolutely forever! I keep thinking, okay, this week it'll finally be done, but nope! Dare I hope that next week will do it?

Big hugs,

Cough, Cough, Sneeze, Sneeze

Urgh - I seem to have come down with the worst cold! My husband came back from his business trip last week and very kindly handed his cold off to me. I'm fighting the good fight, but there are some moments when my head is too heavy to focus on anything.

There has been some stitching going on, never fear! I've made a little more progress on The Tortoise and the Hare:

I've stitched the word "Hare" and so finished stitching the banner along the bottom, with all the grass too, and backstitched the word "finish" on the side.

So now I just have to stitch the banner and flowers along the top. Almost there! I just need to stop sneezing long enough to do it!

Happy xxx's,

Hope Sheep Update 9

Hi everyone! How's your weekend going? Today's the beginning of the work week for us, but I'm on a quick lunch break at home and thought I'd post my SAL update. This is the Sheep Virtues SAL I'm doing with Lija, Anne, and Kaye.

So the point of this SAL is to stitch 100 stitches every week. This is what Hope looks like after 900 stitches. I finished the border along the left and have started the border along the top.

Now I've got enough time to do a quick load of laundry, eat some laundry, and go back to work for my afternoon class. Hope you're all having a great day!

Lots of love,
