But, before that! I went by the post office yesterday and found a beautifully wrapped package from Steph - I won her giveaway a couple of weeks ago!
The giveaway was for the beautiful hand-made brooch, but Steph also sent a "Free Hug" mini cushion, some cute beads, and one of her infamous Wee Witchy cards. :D Love it all, Steph, thank you so much!
I fully intended to work on the American Flag Quilt this week, but something about the Summer Garden traveling pattern called out to me, so I picked it up and couldn't put it down until I finished it! It's sooooo cute. And I loved the colors I picked out, too - really soft and muted, with a really dark brown for the tree and the ground.
I personalized it a little too. Instead of stitching "Summer" Garden, I stitched "Sarah's" Garden. Why not, right? :D
This was stitched on one of the new fabrics I received in the mail last week, a 28-count dark cream evenweave, which was so soft and lovely to work on. These were all DMC floss colors, except the words, which were stitched with Chameleon over-dyed floss called Hydrangea.
I'll work on the finishing in the next few days, but I might as well sent it along its merry way now and give someone else the chance to stitch this cutie! Here's some background:
1st - Myra, the lovely lady who started it all, lives in North Carolina (coincidentally, that's where my mother is from!)
2nd - Mouse in South Yorkshire, UK
3rd - Kaye in Victoria, Australia
4th - Me! In Dubai, the United Arab Emirates
Who'll be the next stop for Summer Garden? If you're interested, comment on this post and I'll draw a winner in a few days. Remember, the rule with this traveling pattern is that you must pick your backing fabric before you choose the floss colors!
Looking forward to sending it on its next adventure,
