Quilt Square 10

After my crazy biscornu-making, I picked up the American Flag Quilt sampler again. It feels so good to be stitching on this gorgeous fabric with these gorgeous colors!

So the newest block is New Hampshire, the ninth state to be admitted to the union, on June 21st, 1788. It’s nicknamed the Granite State. Hmm. That’s not very imaginative, is it?

I love how strong the colors are on this one! They work so well together.

All right. Gotta get to work. It’s presentation week, which means I get to sit in the back of the room for a change, listen to 45 students present their projects, and try not to fall asleep. :P

Keep on stitchin’!

Yet Another Biscornu

Back to mass-producing biscornus! Well, not really. Just really slowly putting together biscornus for the sake of the upcoming craft fair.

This one’s another freebie from The Floss Box. Isn’t it lovely? I adore The Floss Box. They’ve got some of the cutest designs.

I added a great silver apple charm to the middle of the biscornu, one that I got in that giveaway I won over at Ramblings of a Biscornu Addict (Thanks, Kerry!).

Think I might crank out another biscornu, this time for a friend’s birthday. Really putting the nail in the coffin of my biscornu obsession here!

Hope your biscornus are peaking at exactly the right corners :D

Quilt Square 9

The newest block on the American Flag Quilt is done!

This one’s South Carolina. The Palmetto State was admitted into the union on May 23rd, 1788.

Time for another break! Gotta keep making things for the craft fair. Probably another biscornu – I think these are too cute and might be a good seller. Will keep you all updated!

Much love,

Quilt Square 8

And the next state is…

Maryland! The Free State was the 7th to be admitted to the union, on April 28th 1788.

I really like the combination of colors on this one. They’re so soft and pretty.

Well, that’s all I’ve got to report. Work is really taking it out of me lately, and I feel like I don’t have time to stitch properly these days. Oh well. It’ll calm back down soon, I hope.

Big hugs!

Quilt Square 7

Back to the American Flag Quilt sampler! Yay!

I love this piece so much. When you look at the chart, there is absolutely no indication what the finished blocks are going to look like, in terms of color. Some charts will have the symbols color-coded, so you have an idea what it’s going to look like when you look at the chart. This one – nothing. It’s all black and white. And it’s the most exciting thing when you start stitching and you see how all the colors come together and how the backstitching really brings it to life.

So this was Massachusetts, the sixth state to join on February 6th, 1788, nicknamed the Bay State. The backstitching on this block was INSANE. It was so detailed, and it really felt like it took me forever to finish.

You like how the letters sort of run into one another? I’m pretty sure Massachusetts is the longest state name.

I hope all your WIPs are going well!
