First 3 Quilt Squares

Finally started the American Flag Quilt! I've made quite a lot of progress on it already.

The first state is Delaware, which was admitted to the union on  December 7, 1787.

The second was Pennsylvania.

The Quaker State became part of the country on  December 12, 1787.

And heeeeeeeerrrrrrrreeeeeeee’s New Jersey!

New Jersey is, surprisingly (at least to me), the third state. The Garden State joined the nation on December 18, 1787.

I’m going to put this piece aside for a while. There’s a danger that I’ll get bored – even though each block is incredibly unique and detailed. I’ll just work on a little piece to take a break and then I’ll get back to it.

See you soon!

Summer Days are Done!

Finished! It’s finished! Woohoo!

Summer days are officially done. Well, not really. I mean, I’ve been back at work for a week now, so in that sense they’re done. BUT the weather sure doesn’t know it. It is so humid it’s disgusting. Feels like you’re walking around in a sauna. And don’t get me wrong, saunas are nice, but not when you’re wearing clothes. And makeup. Gross.

That’s all for now, folks. Will be posting about other finishes soon!

Lots of love,

Of Birds and Bees...

So close to the end now…

Finished up the last little box of flowers. All I’ve got left to do is the title, and then I need to track down a good frame to finish it off.

Yes! Very excited to almost be done with this WIP. Not that I didn’t enjoy it, I’m just absolutely itching to start on the charts that have been arriving in the mail. I can’t wait!

First day of my classes was yesterday. It went well! Not much really happened, just handed out the syllabus and introduced myself and the course. I have three sections, back-to-back, this semester, which is nice for my bank account, though not so much for my energy level. They seem like good kids, but the rascals always reveal themselves later on.

Gonna finish up some chores today, and then do some stitching. More classes tomorrow!

Off to work I go,

Nearing the End of Summer Days

Back to the WIP, folks!

Finished up the fifth box. Love how each box has got all these different cute little details. It definitely keeps this from getting boring.

I should be finishing this piece up by the end of the week, if I don’t get too busy with, you know, life. I go back to teaching this week. Yay!

Lots of spreadable love,

Finding Some Comfort

Thank you all so much for your sweet messages. It’s so nice to know that I have good people in my life, that I don’t have to go through this time alone. I really appreciate you all. I’ve gotten to the point now where I can think of my grandfather and bring up memories of him without breaking down, and that is a comfort.

I’ve found some comfort in stitching too. I’ve been spending a lot of time on my WIP. First I finished the third box of flowers…

…and then I finished the fourth box.

It’s coming along really nicely. I’ll have to put it aside for a few days, though. I got on a flight to Kuwait last night to be with my sisters. My mother went to the States to be with her family, but my sisters have work/school to go to and couldn’t go with her, so I’ll be spending a couple of days with them. It’s so good to be with family in times like these.

God bless you all,
